The history of the origin of Chihuahua is not very clear as there are different theories claiming the same.  There are majorly two different theories stating the difference in opinion.

The first theory states that the breed has descended from a dog breed named Techichi, who was bred by the Toltec civilization in Mexico. Dog pots have been found from Colima, Mexico, having the carvings depicting dogs similar to Chihuahua. The dogs on the carvings are considered to be Techichi.

The second theory states that the Chihuahuas have originated by the cross between a Chinese dog of a small stature and native small sized dogs of Mexico.

Despite the absence of clarity of the origin of the breed, the Chihuahua was first discovered in 1850 in the Mexican state of Chihuahua. The breed was named after the region of its discovery. Slowly the breed started gaining its popularity. Today the breed is a very common and familiar name among the dog lovers.

The Chihuahua may have a small body but it has a much bigger personality. It is fun loving and playful, but most importantly loves to be around his human companion. The Chihuahua doesn’t consider himself to be small and can sometimes go after much bigger dogs to state his dominance.
